Founding and sole designer

Overlap

Overlap is an AI video platform that turns long-form content into edited, captioned clips and automates social publishing.

Over roughly a year and a half as the company’s sole designer, I’ve worked across product, website design, and motion. This case study brings together selected work from that time, including the Overlap 2.0 product redesign, the website, and launch and marketing videos

Product

Overlap helps users turn source videos into short-form content. My product work spanned the workflows, posting calendar, and analytics dashboard, informed by firsthand use, customer feedback, and close collaboration with our co-founders.

Home, Workflows, and Calendar — an overview of the product.

A shared design system

Product · Visual foundation
Context

The product needed a clearer, more consistent visual direction across its screens and interactions.
Design approach
I defined typography, spacing, and hierarchy, then applied that foundation to the workflows and posting calendar. Priorities came from using the product myself, customer feedback, and conversations with our co-founders.

Workflows

Product · Overlap 2.0
Redesign through release: approximately 3–4 weeks

Context

Overlap’s node-based workflows take source video through clipping, formatting, subtitles, and publishing. As one project within my broader product work, the Overlap 2.0 redesign established a clearer visual direction while keeping the underlying workflow system largely familiar.
Design approach
I refreshed visual hierarchy, addressed edge cases, and added suggested next nodes. The canvas and settings panels keep each step connected to the larger workflow.

More across the product

Analytics, the Library, and the recording studio show additional parts of my product work.

Analytics
I designed the analytics dashboard to bring headline measures, viewing trends, and platform-level information into one overview. It combines engagement, view duration, average views, a trending-post banner, cumulative views, and a social-platform table.

Loading screen

The animated Overlap wordmark accompanies a simple setup message while the product loads.

Library
The Library brings generated clips into one place, with previews, durations, scores, and publishing statuses visible at a glance. Search, filtering, and sorting help users find clips, while contextual controls provide quick access to individual videos.

Motion

Alongside designing the product, I created launch and marketing videos that brought Overlap’s features and story to life. Working from initial outlines and input from our founders, I handled scripting, filming, motion graphics, editing, color, and sound. These highlights bring together selected moments from that work.
